Bruce James Slivinski, age 74, known by most as “Jim” passed away on January 6, 2024 at home in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Born August 25, 1949 in Alexandria, Virginia to Frank and Helen Slivinski he was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
Jim was a proud US Army veteran. He served during the Cold War and was stationed in Germany. He was assigned to a Nike Missile Battery and with the Military Police during his service. He worked for
Dominion Electric Supply Company after the army and retired from the company after 42 years.
He was an avid fisherman and happily shared that passion with his children and grandchildren. So many great memories were made with his family on local and deep sea fishing trips. His last few years also saw him take up gardening as a hobby. Grampa Ski or Papa Ski as he was affectionately called poured his heart and soul into his wife, children and grandchildren. He was known by friends, neighbors and members in the community for his generosity and kind spirit.
Jim is survived by his wife, Ann Slivinski, son Jeremy Slivinski (Krystal), son Matthew Slivinski, son Dustin Slivinski, daughter Jamie Holt (Slivinski), stepdaughters Jaclyn Mullen-Lieberman (Scott), Christine Asadourian, and Andria Yamamoto (Enrique). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Jeremy Jr., Henry, Lorenzo, Angelo, Natalya, Katalia, Nikko, Adarian, Adayis, Adorah and Zachary. We cannot forget the many nieces, nephews and their children that he stayed connected with over his lifetime.
Jim will be deeply missed by all. He was an extraordinary man who touched the lives of many during his time with us.
A funeral service for Jim will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Dr., Virginia Beach, VA on Sunday, January 28 at 2 p.m., followed by a reception.
