Thelma Carter Lewis-Levis, 89, of Mattaponi, VA passed away November 20, 2023.
Thelma enjoyed watching old westerns and baseball games, especially if the Yankees were playing. She loved animals and children and was known as “Grandma” to countless children over the years; if they were around, she’d claim them and love them.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice Carter, Elva and Henry Armstrong and her two husbands Herbert Lewis and Leonard Levis.
She is survived by her son, Herbert Lewis, Jr. (Lori); two grandchildren, Stacy McKinney (David) and Herbert “Herbie” Lewis (Lauren); a step daughter, Ellen Schiavone; three great-grandchildren, Madisen, Quad and Gavin; and her four legged companion, “Paisley.”
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 27 at Olivet Baptist Church, 25338 The Trail, Mattaponi, VA 23110. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181.
