Rebecca Ann (Boykin) Peterson was born on October 8, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA. She was raised in Washington, DC by her loving mother Amazie Louise Harrison Meadows and stepfather Bruce Meadows. Those that knew her well, affectionately referred to as, “Becky.” She peacefully departed this life on September 28, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.
Becky loved the Lord and was a faithful member of The City of David Ministries until her health would not allow her to attend. She was baptized on April 27, 2014. She spent every morning in her prayer closet and enjoyed watching Charles Stanley and reading Joyce Meyer books. She received her education in the District of Columbia Public Schools; Bunker Hill Elementary, Taft Junior High School, and graduated from McKinley High School in 1967.
On July 1, 1967, she married the love of her life Aaron Lee Peterson, and out of that union, they had a beautiful daughter Michelle on September 3, 1969. Becky was employed with the United States Postal Service for 31 years and retired on September 30, 2012.
Becky was a very charismatic and outgoing person who always “kept it real”. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved sports cars, and anyone riding with her knew she would take the longest shortcuts ever! She also loved to listen to oldies but goodies. Becky will be truly missed but never forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her husband Aaron L. Peterson; father Charles Boykin; stepfather Bruce Meadows; mother Amazie Louise Meadows; and nephew Rodney H. Corley.
She leaves to cherish many memories to her devoted daughter Michelle D. Limes (Sean); three grandchildren, Marcus Herrion, Ashlee Limes, and Aaron Limes; two great-grandchildren, Maya Herrion and Josiah Bowles; one sister, Joan Tinner; one niece, Toni Tinner; two sisters-in-love, June Peterson-Miles and Rose Peterson; two long time devoted friends, Gwen Hooks and Pricilla Bragg; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon, Saturday, October 14, 2023, in Lebanon Baptist Church, Surry. Interment to follow in Weir Neck Cemetery. Mrs. Peterson may be viewed in the church
