Felicia Meekins, 59, of Williamsburg

Felicia Meekins peacefully answered the Master’s call and entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at home. Her life began on April 1, 1964, the daughter of the late Bobby Braxton and Clara Meekins, of James City County, Va.

Felicia was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County public schools. She loved the Lord and was a member of Baptist Church, Toano, Va. She worked as a laundress at the Holiday Inn North in Williamsburg for many years. Felicia was a proud Dallas Cowboys fan and had a passion for braiding hair and crocheting. She enjoyed making hats, scarfs, and dolls for her community and relatives. She also loved caring for her dog.

Felicia is preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents Judy and Curtis Meekins; paternal grandparents, Ethel and William Braxton; aunts, Laura Meekins, Camellia Meekins, and Gertrude Smith; uncles, Douglas Meekins, Charles Meekins, and Kenny Braxton; sister, Barbara Graves; nephews, Christopher Meekins and Michael Lightfoot.

She leaves to treasure her blessed memories with her devoted daughter, Jeanette Meekins; three grandchildren, Quontea Robinson, Derrick Lee Jr., and Destiny Robinson and Terrell Braxton (who she treated as a grandson); three great-grandchildren, Isiah Robinson, Sarai Robinson, and I’Mir Robinson; sisters, Olivia Meekins, Ray Graves Lassiter (Fernandez), Phyllis Graves, and Gerenda Robinson (Greg); two brothers, Christopher Braxton and Bobby Graves (Tanisha); five aunts, three which were devoted, Blanch Wallace, Queen Meekins, and Patricia Moore; five uncles; eight nephews; seven nieces; devoted cousins, Bernetta Meekins, Latrice Meekins, and Rydell Pettaway Jr.; devoted friends, Latonya Mason, Joanna Johnson, and Charlotte Boyd; Latia Robertson and Lawrence Robertson Jr., and Laquanna Redcross, who always held a special place in her heart ( niece and nephew as she would say); A special friend, James Berkley who has always held a special place in her heart, no matter when or what Felicia needed James was there; Kathy Givens and Sheron Parker, the two she called her sisters-in-law; and a host of other loving family and friends.

A service to celebrate Felicia’s life will be held at Noon Friday, September 29, 2023, at CBC World Ministries. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Ms. Meekins may be viewed in the church on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. until the hour of her service.
