John Wesley Stoddard Jr, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a three year battle with Melanoma. John certainly did not leave anything on the table of life. To know him was to love him.
Survived by his two wonderful sons Collin and Jeremy, daughter by marriage Katie, two grandchildren Paige and Henry, sister Vikki (husband Russel), niece Hollis (husband Mark), and two great nephews Jack and Paxton, who all loved him more than anything, are left with a gap that no one else can fill. John touched the lives of everyone he met, and he never met a stranger. He poured himself into others, never asking anything in return. The loss of his love, wisdom and creativity will not be something easily forgotten and we take comfort in knowing he can finally rest. We are grateful for the adventures and memories made but will miss our hunting buddy, craftsman extraordinaire, and storyteller. Our love was with you until your end, and yours will be with us.
In lieu of flowers or donations the family ask that you take a moment to hug your children, grandchildren or a friend. Take a long walk in the woods and watch the birds but above all else please wear your sunscreen and get your regular skin checks.
A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 15 at 11105 Sugarloaf Drive, Mechanicsville, VA.
