Marie Mozell Carlton, 76 of Providence Forge, Virginia passed away on Thursday May 18, 2023. Marie was born on April 6, 1947 to the late Willie Belvin and Mary Taylor. She was raised in the church and baptized at an early age. She was taught to love and serve her God.
Marie enjoyed life and the relationships she made with anyone she came across. On July 5, 1969 she met and married the love of her life William R. Carlton. They lived a life of love and enduring for nearly 55 years. To this union three children were born, her son William Carlton Jr, daughter Eunice Priscilla Carlton and her son Edward Patrick Carlton.
Marie ran a tight ship at home when it came to taking care of her family. She always made sure the children were clean, fed and educated. If you ask her, she may have thought she had four children, with the addition of taking care of her husband. In her quiet time, she loved to read the Bible and work on crossword puzzles. Marie was also a big fan of the Baltimore Ravens. Their home generated love, laughter, singing, prayer and praise. Her kindness and compassion is what will be missed by all.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Eunice, her son Edward and sister, Mary Louise.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, William R. Carlton, Sr.; son, William Carlton Jr., a sister, Sarah James of Baltimore, MD and a host of relatives, friends and church family she held dear.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at the New Generation of God’s Children in Faith Church, 6160 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
