Gloria Dodd Forbes Davis, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Good Friday, April 7, 2023.
Gloria was a lifelong resident of Newport News, VA. She was known for her cooking, baking and canning skills. Her family loved receiving gifts of homemade breads, jellies, and pickles. She was a Master Gardener and enjoyed working with her beautiful flowers and vegetable garden. After her children were grown, she worked for the City of Newport News, then as a sales representative with John Hancock Financial Services, and as a secretary at Hampton Roads Baptist Church. Gloria attended Bethel Temple Assembly of God for many years.
She was predeceased by her first husband, William Britton Forbes, Jr. and their son, William Britton Forbes, III; and her second husband, Robert L. Davis. She is survived by her son, William David Forbes and his wife, Fran; her stepdaughters, Janet Baker (Ralph) and Terry Dougherty (Bill), and step-son, Robert L. Davis, Jr.; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
The family thanks the staff of The Hidenwood where Gloria resided for the past three years, and Interim Healthcare for their loving and compassionate care.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to noon on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
