William Carey Fisher, age 92, of Newport News, VA died on Friday, March 10, 2023 at his home.
He was born in Fayetteville, NC on April 27, 1930 to the late Rankin Lee Fisher and Sallie Ann (Hughes) Fisher. Carey, as he was known by his family, served his country honorably in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. While serving in the Air Force, he met his wife of 68 years, Marion D. (Lemoncelli) Fisher. He worked 40 years as an electronics field engineer for the RCA Service Company. Carey was a man of great faith whose greatest pride was his family, both immediate and extended.
He was often spare with his words, yet was a mindful, intelligent, contemplative man and a quick friend to all he encountered. Carey was a man of many talents and interests, beginning as a champion multi-sport athlete in high school and continuing through the years as an humble and caring father and husband. Blessed with a sly sense of humor and infectious smile, Carey was selfless, unassuming, generous, and caring.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marion Fisher of Newport News, children Debra Palmer (Steve) of Clearwater, FL, Carey Fisher (Vicky) of Virginia Beach, Karen Chretien (Bob) of Newport News, and David Fisher (Lynda) of Las Vegas, NV, grandchildren Kristen Joseph (Charles) of Virginia Beach, Brittney Fisher of Virginia Beach, William Chretien of Newport News, Ben Fisher (Allison) of Elizabeth City, NC, and Steven Chretien of Hampton, great-grandchildren Tahir Joseph, Harper Stiefel, and Jack Fisher.
