Herbert Scott Christian III, 63 entered into eternal rest on Oct. 28, 2022. He was born on April 28, 1959 to the late Herbert S. Christian Sr. and Arnella (Ardie) Christian of Charles City, VA.
Herbert attended and graduated from Charles City High School in 1977. Afterwards, he completed the Mortuary Science program at John Tyler Community College and went on to start a long career in mortuary science working for several funeral establishments throughout the state of Virginia. Herbert finished his career working in the hospitality industry. However, he continued his passion in mortuary science by servicing and counselling families in their time of need.
Herbert had an additional passion for ancestry and genealogy that traced our family’s ancestry back to the 17th century. He was instrumental in assisting with the research used to write the history of James and Keziah Charity (The Big Green Book) and helped hundreds of people through Ancestry.com connections connect with their ancestral roots in Charles City County. Herbert was preceded in death by his father Herbert S. Christian, Jr.
He is survived by his devoted mother Arnella (Ardie) Christian, sisters Sharon Christian and Julie Christian, brother Brent Christian (Kristie), niece Tiffany Christian, nephews Miles Christian and Tyler Christian, uncles Edmond Christian (Rebecca), aunts Angie Parker and Ruth Christian as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1PM on Thursday, Nov 3, 2022 at Vincent Funeral Home Chapel in Providence Forge, VA. Viewing will be held prior to service from 11AM to 1PM. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetary, Providence Forge, VA.
