Mr. Samuel Thornton departed his life on earth on October 18, 2022. On February 4, 1962, he was born one of four girls and four boys to the late Mary M. and Robert E. Thornton.
“Sam,” as he was affectionately called, attended the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools and later went to the Job Corp, where he learned auto motor works. He worked at several places in Williamsburg and surrounding areas. He was well-known in the community and will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Samuel leaves to cherish his fond memories with his sister, Barbara Rodger,; brothers, Robert Thornton Jr., and Harry Thornton; fiancé, Carolyn Roane; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2022, with a time of reflections starting at 3:30 p.m. in Whiting’s Funeral Home. Facial coverings are required.
