
Annie Mildred South, 91, of Little Plymouth, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 26, 2022 after a long illness. Mildred loved her family and Jesus. She spent her life running the family farm, gardening and caring for her extended family, especially her older sisters, sisters-in-law, and eight grandchildren. The family will never forget the joy she had fishing with her sisters, preparing large family meals, reading her Bible and praying to her Lord. In later years, she enjoyed singing gospel songs at churches, convalescent centers and gospel events with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Annie Cooke; her husbands, Robert Russell South, Jr. and Morgan Lee Prince; as well as a daughter-in-law, Judy South; brothers, Dick Cooke and William B. Cooke; and sisters, Iva Clements, Mary Greggs and Kate Prince.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Robert Russell South, III (JoErn), Chris South (Karen) and Rex South; daughter, LaVerne Longest (Ricky); a step-son, Timothy Prince (Judy); and step-daughter, Jill McCurry (Mike); grandchildren, Kristi South, Josh South, Resa Hoye, Stacy Mitchell, Melissa South, Lucas South, Jordan South, Cameron South; and nine great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Margaret Cooke; and brother-in-law, Roland Pierce.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 PM, Thursday, June 30th at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point, VA with the funeral service beginning at 2 PM. Interment will follow in Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.
