CHARLES CITY COUNTY — Ann Elizabeth (Jefferson) Jones, 86, of Charles City County, Virginia, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 27, 2022. She was the youngest child born on April 22, 1935 to the late Jane Oliver (Brown) Jefferson and the late Peter Jefferson.

Ann finished Charles City Public Schools and then settled into life as a stay at home mom while raising her children. Family has always been most important to her.

After family, Ann loved cooking, canning, knitting, soap operas and, in her later years, Cookie Jam, Candy Crush and especially Facebook, which allowed her to keep in touch with close and distant relatives.

Once her older children were out of school, Ann went to work at Philip Morris. She stayed at Philip Morris for 19 years before retiring and settling into life as a devoted grandmother.

Ann was preceded in death by both her parents; her two children, Peter D. Jones, Sr. and Ruffin O. Jones, Jr.; and her 11 older siblings, Calvin, Beatrice, Sherman, Elvira, Marian, Robert, Edna, William Henry, Mary Jane, Carlton and Allen.

Ann is survived by her adoring husband, Ruffin O. Jones, Sr.; doting children, Beatrice Banks, Gayle Quivers, Michael Jones (Yvonne), Valarie Brooks and Mallory Jones; plentiful grandchildren Jene’, Jamie, BJ, Justin, Kristy, LaToya, Deono, PJ, Nicholas, Candace, JB, Chelene, Marco, Natalie, Jessica and Kimberly; 29 great grandchildren; her nieces who were like sisters, Brenda Crawley and Jean Charity; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family would like to especially thank Ann’s hospice nurse, LaTisha Petty of Amedisys, for being wonderful during her transition.
