Jane Marie Anderson, 76, cheerful matriarch known for her unique sense of humor

WILLIAMSBURG — Jane Marie Anderson, 76, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021. She was born in Orange County, Texas, and grew up there and in Kannapolis, North Carolina. She had lived in the York County and Williamsburg areas most of her adult life.

She was the proud owner of J&J Fashions in Grafton back in the 1980s. More recently, she worked for Chick-fil-A in Williamsburg and as a school bus aide for James City County, as well as caring for and walking dogs for people. Everyone who met or knew her loved her!

She was a cheerful, kind-hearted and awesome mother, grandmother, wife and friend who had a unique sense of humor and will be missed greatly! She loved her family and dogs more than life itself as well as the beach and traveling with family and friends.

She is survived by her spouse, Jim Anderson; children, Julie E. Wade Slater (Doug), Jimmy Wade (Melissa), Jerry Wade, Barbara Anderson Steven, Ernie Anderson and M.J. Anderson-Leichty (Cassie);grandkids, Erinn, Kyle and Kristyn Slater, Mikhail, Rasia and Katarina Nadjkovic, James Wade, Dakota Millikin, Chace Orr, Mckenzy Hudgins and Tavish Anderson-Leichty. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace “Smitty” and Ruby Smith; brother, Robert “Bobby” Lee; and grandson, Tyler James Wade.

The family will have a walk-through visitation from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 15, at Amory Funeral Home. A private funeral service will take place Tuesday, Feb. 16. Flowers or plants may be sent to Amory Funeral Home; or, in lieu of flowers, please donate to one of her favorite causes, the Animal Aid Society.
