VIRGINIA BEACH — Deborah Denise “Debbie” Speight, 58, walked into the gates of heaven with her new body Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2020. Debbie was born Sept. 11, 1962, to Lonnie and Ruth Hines in Baltimore, Maryland. Even though she was born in Maryland, she was raised in the Seatack section of Virginia Beach.
Deborah was educated in the Virginia Beach public school system and obtained her diploma. Soon after, she started her career in caregiving and was with Social Services for many years before becoming disabled. Debbie loved to have a good time and could often be found playing pool.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Ruth Hines.
Deborah leaves to continue her legacy her spouse of 32 years, James Speight; son, James O’Bryant Speight; daughter, Tiffany Lewis; grandchildren, Jaylen Whitehead and Ayahri Mitchell; godchildren, LaTisha Anderson and Adra Williams; mother-in-law, Elaine Speight; siblings, Ruth Beale (Flord), Sharon Franklin (Robert), Barbara Cuffee (Clayton) and Lisa Hines; brother-in-law, Chris Speight; sister-in-law, Delores Speight; uncle, Chester Kellam; and a host of family and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at noon, Friday, Oct. 2, at Beach Funeral & Cremation Services, 4456 Bonney Road, Virginia Beach. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Betty Jones Memorial Park,
4698 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach.
