VIRGINIA BEACH — Jean Nobles Owens, 84, a gentle lady with a North Carolina accent who made friends with everyone she met, passed Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and William Nobles; and brother, Ted Nobles.

Her memory will live on through her children, Randy Hodge, Bill Owens, Lynn Hall, Ed Owens and David Owens; as well as her sister-in-law, Shirley Nobles.

Jean had great faith and trust in God and his ability to hold her up in difficult circumstances. She attended her church regularly, where she sang, attended Bible study and taught many children in Sunday school. There, she made many friends and attended many social gatherings with them.

She was a best friend to everyone she knew and went out of her way to lend a helping hand to anyone needing transportation to and from appointments, even though she often drove a little too fast. A guardian angel clip was attached to her sun visor as a reminder to slow down. Her greatest sense of pride was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the ones who received her special hugs, although she hugged everyone whether they needed it or not.

She loved to surround herself with beautiful things, her flowers and her memories, in her own home, which she did right up to her recent hospitalization. However, to do this over the last few months, she needed the help of many family members, including her daughter-in-law and caregiver, Linda Creef, to whom we owe our warmest gratitude.

Immortality lies not in the things we leave behind, but in the people whose lives we have touched. Love knows no bounds. To the God who brought her to us, bear her gently to her heavenly home of peace and happiness.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 3, at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 North Witchduck Road,
Virginia Beach.
