NEWPORT NEWS — Chavee Simmons, affectionately known as “Noi,” 81, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020, at home in the presence of her loving husband.

She retired from the housekeeping department at Kingsmill Resort, Williamsburg. She was a member of West Pasantidhamma Temple. Her favorite pastimes included gardening, caring for her family, cooking, sewing and needlepoint. She was a member of the Thai America Association.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sawang Chittech; mother, Chittech; and daughter, Veronica Flythe.

She met her husband, Ronald, while he was stationed in Thailand. They were fated to meet, as Chavee was far from her hometown visiting friends for a wedding. They were together over 48 years and married Feb. 27, 1976.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Kenneth Simmons; son, Ronald K. Flythe, and daughter-in-law, Shannon S. Reeves; daughter, Riem Desormeaux, and son-in-law, Chris; siblings, Sriwieng Beach, Wen Chittech, Punon Chittech, Rayeit Chittech, Sawong Chittech and Wen Chittech; sisters-in-law, Crystal James and Carla Hall, Patricia Rush (Robert), Vanessa Harris and Nikki Simmons; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A special thank you to the caregivers, Elaine Gaddy, Sharon Jones and Bungon Fontaine, who supported her and the family in providing loving care until the end.

The family would also like to thank Rudee Jacobs for her continued love and support throughout this process.
