Lisa Rosette Jones, 67, took great pride in the accomplishments of her family

Lisa Rosette Jones, 67, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020. A native of Hampton, Lisa graduated from Hampton High School in 1971 and attended Virginia Union for two years.

Lisa’s professional career began with the Hampton Police Department, where she served as the first African American female officer in the history of the department. She retired in 1993 as a telephone operator from Verizon Communications, formerly C&P Telephone.

Lisa later relocated to southern Maryland for 18 years before returning to Hampton Roads. While in Maryland, Lisa was a community ambassador for the American Cancer Society. Lisa volunteered with numerous organizations, where she showed her love of caring and uplifting others. Lisa took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, they brought her much joy.

Lisa is survived by her lifelong partner, Darryl Robertson; sons, Carl Jones (Pamela) of Claymont, Delaware, and Corey Jones (Tracee) of Plainfield, New Jersey; daughters, Fallon Alexis Jones-Jefferson (Barry) of Austin, Texas, and Crystal Jones of Hampton; siblings, Willie Jones (Barbara), Allan Jones, Cheryl Jones, Linda Mines, Blossie “Landy” Jones, Randolph Jones (Denise) and Naomi Willis (Joseph Sr.); foster brother, Nathanael Pretlow; grandsons, Corie Lewis, Alex Jones, Caleb Jones, Barry Jefferson III and Judah Jefferson; granddaughters, Jayda Jones, Madison Brown and Carly Jones; great-grandson, Brandyn Lewis; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who she cared for deeply.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Drive, Hampton. Immediately following at 2 p.m., Lisa’s life will be remembered and celebrated, please wear red for her!
