Linda Ford Ball, 76, retired from the City of Newport News after 31 years’ employment

Linda Ford Ball, 76, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at her daughter’s home on Northhampton Drive.

Linda was a native of South Boston, Virginia, and a resident of Hampton for the past 56 years. Linda worked as an administrator for the City of Newport News for 31 years, where she from retired in June 2001. Linda will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Linda was preceded in rest by her husband, Bruce W. Ball; and parents, Jesse Samuel and Ella Ford.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Lawter (Allan), Sherri Shufflebarger (Jack), Samantha Hanks (Rodney) and Wendy Crow (Brian); grandchildren, A.J. Shufflebarger, Mallory Lawter, Danielle Lawter, Matthew Shufflebarger, Lindsey Lawter, Katie McMasters, Cody Hanks, Mackenzie Lawter and Timothy Hanks; great-grandchildren, Caleigh Shufflebarger and Nolan Powell; sister, Kay Nunn (Lawrence); and nephews, Todd and Bruce Nunn.

The family would like to give special thanks to caregivers, Bonnie Nicosia and Karen Langslow Smith, for the loving care they showed to Linda. There will be a celebration of life held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, with visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to services.
