
Calvin Shannon Bentley, 84, of Newport News, passed away Friday,, Jan. 10, 2020, in Williamsburg.
Calvin was born Aug. 31, 1935, in Garrett, Kentucky, to Johnny and Alice Bentley. He married Betty Lee Ezzell on May 17, 1980, in Newport News. He worked as a tool clerk for Newport News Shipbuilding for 36 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the U.S. Army.
Calvin was preceded in death by three of his children and numerous other family members and friends.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Betty; other children, brothers and sisters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren too numerous to list, but greatly cared for and thought of.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 Armistead Ave., Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. following visitation at the funeral home with the Rev. David Price of Grafton Baptist Church officiating. There will be a reception following the service at the home of John and Christina Talley, 839 Poquoson Ave., Poquoson.
