Michael Allen “Mike” Karika, of Hampton, received his wings Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the young age of 32.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Mary Karika; and an uncle, Jack Karika.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, H.L. and Marie Karika; mother, Vivian McNab; two brothers, Terry Williams and Jack Karika; sister, Lisa Williams-Harwood; Momma Dukes, Angela Williams; two nephews, Cody Prior and Skyler Williams; two nieces, Ashley Hartman and Krystina Kelley; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his two four-legged kids, Kratos and Ares.

Michael had many passions and strove for perfection in all of them. He loved making beats and rapping with friends and skateboarding. He got into boxing and won multiple matches. He had a Mustang he wanted to “soup up” with the help of his dad and loved motorcycles. He was an excellent marksman, completing various training, receiving multiple certificates and had competed in various competitions.

Michael worked at Northrop Grumman Shipyard in Newport News. He started working there about 12 years ago as an outside machinist. After working that position approximately a year, he changed departments and became a mechanical inspector. As with everything he did, he took his job seriously, but was able to have fun doing it. He obviously made a good impression on his supervisors, as he had worked his way up to a mechanical inspection supervisor position several months ago.

Mike touched so many people in his life, and seeing so many comments about what a great guy he was is a blessing to family and friends. If you have a special memory or comment to share with family and friends, please take a moment to share with us.

Rest in peace my dear son. Until we see you again…
