Andrew Flowers Barnett Jr., 89, of Virginia Beach, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018.
Born in Buxton, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Andrew and Nellie Barnett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty H. Barnett. He retired as a captain with the U.S. Navy.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Mark M. Pruett-Barnett, and his wife, Anne; daughter, Sharon L. Hopper, and her husband, Michael; four grandchildren, Jessica Pruett-Barnett, Michelle Harris, Matthew Sassmann and Meredith Hopper; and great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Margot and Andrew Harris.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Anne Pruett-Barnett officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
