William Joseph “Billy Joe” Fannin, 84, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018. He was born Aug. 20, 1934, to Joseph Thomas and Olive Rice Fannin.
William served 21 years in the U.S. Navy and 21 years in the Virginia State Health Department, where he retired from the Peninsula Health District.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, a granddaughter and a grandson.
William is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary; daughters, Theresa Altland (Rodney), Barbara Studebaker (Robert) and Margaret Fannin; nine grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Catherine Burns, CHM; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 12:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 7, at St. Jerome Catholic Church followed by interment in Peninsula Memorial Park.
