John James Curry, 81, died Thursday, May 24, 2018. He was born June 15, 1936, in Manhattan, New York.
He graduated from Pace College, New York, New York and became a CPA. John was also the vice president of finance for a major consumer products company in New Jersey.
In 1995, John and his wife, Carol, retired to Williamsburg. He served as chairman of the Governor’s Land Foundation Finance Committee and was a member of the Two Rivers Country Club Men’s Golf Association.
John was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Curry. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Carol; Pennsylvania relatives including his sister-in-law, Janet Curry; nephews, Matthew (Heather) Curry, Adam (Katie) Curry and Drew (Donetta) Curry; and goddaughter, Barbara Stites from Cape Coral, Florida.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 31, at Saint Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in Virginia, 9702 Gayton Road, #10, Richmond, VA 23238; or the American Cancer Society, 11835 Canon Blvd., Newport News, VA 23606.
