E. Nelson Shrewsbury, 68, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018, after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born April 14, 1950, in Japan.
He was vice president for Consumer Mortgage & Investment in Virginia Beach. He loved finances. He was, above anything else, selfless and generous. He loved trying to make money to help his family out. He loved the feeling of being successful for the sheer fact that he could use it to help the rest of his family and friends. That is the true essence of who Nelson was. His favorite song was “Money,” by Pink Floyd. His interests included botany, NASCAR, leather-working and collecting artifacts such as arrowheads and sharksteeth.
Mr. Shrewsbury was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Hughes (Japanese name, Tomiko Takagi); father, Lindy Shrewsbury; and grandmother, Blanche Shrewsbury.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas M. Shrewsbury, and his wife, Toni Davis; nephew, Thomas N. Shrewsbury, and his husband, William Guire; and countless friends who have become family over the years.
Private services will be held for the family.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in remembrance of Mr. Shrewsbury.
