Burt Stratton Eldridge III, 78, known as “Stratton” to his family, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, in the wonderful care of Hospice House of Williamsburg, Va. He was born on Nov. 23, 1938, in Greensboro, N.C., to Burt and Mildred Eldridge.
Stratton went to Duke University on a full Angier B. Duke Scholarship and graduated in 1961 with a degree in civil engineering. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he earned a Master of Business Administration Degree from Harvard University. Stratton had resided in Williamsburg near his sister Sharon for the past 10 years.
He is survived by three loving sisters, Sharon Sams (Michael) of Williamsburg, Va., Dorrie Williams of Maggie Valley, N.C., and Ginah Butler (Paul) of Maggie Valley, N.C.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at WUMC.
Memorial contributions may be made in Stratton’s name to the Hospice House of Williamsburg.
