Daisy Lee Jones, 91, of Virginia Beach, Va., passed away July 24, 2016.
Born Jan. 21, 1925, in Carter County, Ky., to the late Pearl and Clyde Johnson, Daisy was the fifth youngest of their six children.

She graduated from Morehead State Teachers College in Rowan County, Ky., where she met and later married Edward Lee Jones. In 1966 they moved back to Virginia Beach, Va., where Edward retired as a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy and began his second career as an electrical contractor. Daisy retired from the federal civil service at Little Creek Amphibious Base after 20 years.
Daisy lived a gracious and compassionate life, bringing light to those around her. Her kindness and good nature continued to attract others to her even as Alzheimer’s took so much from her.
Daisy was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy J. Hane (Harry); four sons, Edward, Lawrence, Phillip and Richard; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A small visitation to celebrate her life will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 1485 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, Va. She will be laid to rest at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Norfolk, Va.
