Darlene Bardon McKenzie, 46, of Virginia Beach, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016, with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Darlene was born in Quantico. She was a graduate of Potomac Senior High School in Dumfries. She later attended Tidewater Community College, where she received an Associates in Applied Science in Legal Assisting, specializing in litigation. Darlene also attended Old Dominion University, where she majored in criminal justice. Darlene was a die-hard basketball and football fan. She was employed at Heretick Law as a legal assistant, where she worked for 10 years; and Eastern Plumbing. She was previously employed at GE Ricks Plumbing Inc.
Mrs. McKenzie was preceded in death by her father, Robert F. Bardon Sr.; and grandmother, Norene Vaughan.
She is survived by her mother, Margie Bardon of Virginia Beach; loving husband, David McKenzie; two sons, David and Jesse McKenzie, both of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Lauren and Heather McKenzie, both of Matthews; one brother, Robert F. Bardon Jr. of Fredericksburg; two sisters, Sharon Rovetto of Texas and Patricia Ksanznak of Dumfries; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday June 7, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park. A reception will follow at Chick’s Raw Bar, 2143 Vista Circle, Virginia Beach.
