Thelma T. Wheeler, born in St. Johns, Antigua, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016, at a local hospital.
Always independent, Thelma wore many hats; mother, sister, aunt, U.S. Navy wife and friend. She lost her husband, Stanley E. Wheeler; and son, Stanley E. ‘Gene’ Wheeler II, at all too early ages.
Survivors include her son, Walter ‘Gerry’ Wheeler; grandson, Nicholas E. Wheeler; sister, Cecelia Davies of Aiken, S.C.; and favorite niece, Merlene, and her husband, Peter, and their son, Paul Rippon of Antigua. There are many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her.
Before she retired, Thelma worked for NAVFAC, LANT DIV, Collateral Equipment, which allowed her to travel the world.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park.
