Clara Byrd Lawrence, 91, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016. She was born May 20, 1924, in Norfolk to the late Henry and Sudie Byrd.
Mrs. Lawrence was the widow of Albert B. Lawrence and is survived by a son, Gregory Kent Lawrence, and wife Leslie, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; daughter, Janet L. Staples, and husband, Bruce W. Staples, of Chesapeake; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lawrence had retired from Bank of America. She was a dedicated member of Norview, McKendree and St. Andrews Methodist Church. She was a lover of golf, bowling, and especially of people and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk.
