Doris “Dottie” Seibert Sturtridge, 93, passed away on January 25, 2016, in a local hospital.
She was born in Richmond, VA and has lived in the Tidewater area for most of her life. She was the wife of the late Dewey C. Sturtridge, Jr. Dottie was a very active volunteer for various organizations, including Catholic Charities, The Russell House, and the Republican Party. She formerly worked for the city of Virginia Beach as a Marriage Commissioner, and was a long time member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was loved by many whom Dottie considered her “own.”
Survivors include her four children, John Sturtridge of Gulf Port, FL, Mary Anne Berkhimer of Tampa, FL, Tim Berkhimer of Virginia Beach, Dewey “Trip” C. Sturtridge, III (Cindy) of St. Augustine, FL, and Misty Vittum (Brad) of Virginia Beach, eight grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Bellavista (Vincenzo), Casey Berkhimer, Dewey C. Sturtridge, IV (Jessica), Erin Berkhimer, Alex Sturtridge, Johnny Sturtridge (Stephanie), Summer Vittum, and Ray Vittum, and one great granddaughter, Aria Bellavista, as well as many extended family members and good friends.
The family received friends on January 27, 2016, in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Rd Chapel. A mass of Christian burial was held in Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Thursday. Burial followed in Princess Anne Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made to the family at hdoliver.com.
