Maureen Patricia Chandler, 73, lived in Japan, Costa Rica and England

Maureen Patricia Chandler, of Williamsburg, died Jan. 2, 2015, at the age of 73.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Hanley and her father, Eugene Hanley.

Maureen received her bachelor’s in chemistry from St. John’s University and Master of Library Science from Rutgers University. She worked for the Bergen County Community College as a librarian and was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church. Maureen was also the secretary for Two Rivers Tennis Association and an avid tennis, bocce and bridge player.

She was also a member of the Neighbor to Neighbor Association. She loved to travel and lived in Japan, Costa Rica, England and many locations in the U.S.

Maureen is survived by her husband, John J. Chandler; her sons, John C. Chandler and his wife, India, Gregory P. Chandler and his wife, Veronica and David Michael Chandler and his wife, Valerie; and her grandchildren, Michaela, Erin, Gillian, Selena, Bridgid, Anil, Arun, Jaya, Ivylyn and Greyson.

A visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102 Norfolk, Virginia 23502 or the USO, which were Maureen’s favorite charities.
