Eldridge L. “Kitty” Canaday, Sr., of Williamsburg, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Hospice House of Williamsburg. He was 82.
In 1990, he retired as a service manager, from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, after more than 30 years of service. He later became employed as a certified state auto inspector at Crow’s Garage, until January 2014. His favorite pastime was fishing. Throughout his many years of service within his community, he made many lifelong friends and customers.
He was born Feb. 10, 1932, and was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Miles Canaday, of James City County.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Maxine E. Canaday; daughter, Diane E. Jackson (Linwood); granddaughter, Dionne Thomas; great-granddaughter, Elicia McLean; two sisters; three brothers; daughter-in-law, Debbie Canaday; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends
Mr. Canaday may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Family and friends will assemble by 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Whiting’s Chapel for the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. with Dr. Robert A. Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow at the Canaday’s Family Cemetery.
