Michael Joseph Walsh, of Williamsburg and formerly of Reston and Astoria, N.Y., died March 29, 2014, at the age of 76.

Mr. Walsh spent time in the U.S. Armed Forces and was a retired government consultant. He was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church in Williamsburg, as well a member of the Williamsburg Historian Club. He had a passion for spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, painting, boating, relaxing at the beach and politics. He always loved spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Josephine; father, Denis Joseph; sister, Evelyn; nephew, John Barbarine; niece, Carolyn Reddy; nephew, Edward Walsh; and sister-in-law, Marylou Walsh.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Walsh; daughters, Kathy (Kevin Bogner), Kelly (Erik Wallace) and Kristi (Peter Stewart); grandchildren, Jordan, Connor, Sydney, Cole, Nicole, Ryan, Megan, Dylan and Rachel; siblings, Tom, Joseph (Elsie), Frank (Marie), Mary (Nick Barbarine); brother-in-law, Jim Reddy; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 104 Norge Lane, Williamsburg.
