Edward “Dave” Crute loved watching the Redskins, VA Tech and Fox Hill football, where his grandson played.
Mr. Crute, of Newport News, died Dec. 6, 2013, after a courageous battle against cancer with his wife by his side.
He was a graduate of Frederick Military Academy and served over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, including Vietnam where he received multiple medals. After his retirement form the U.S. Air Force Mr. Crute and his son opened Dave’s Auto Repair where he served and loved his customers for over 20 years. He enjoyed traveling, remodeling his home and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Tetyana; son, David Crute; daughter, Ame McCullin and her husband, Weegie; step-children, Nazar and Polina; sister, Nancy Slaughter and her husband, Tom; cousin, Linda Roberts; and grandchildren, Taylor, Will and Maddi.

A celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Dec. 15, 2013, at his home, 8 Evelyn Dr, Newport News.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research. “Don’t Give Up….Don’t Ever Give Up”.
