The Grafton Middle School volleyball team won the Bay Rivers District tournament on Feb. 7.
Grafton defeated top-seeded Hornsby Middle School in four sets (25-22, 28-26, 25-12, 25-18) to take home the trophy in its inaugural season.
In the semifinals, Grafton took down Berkeley Middle in straight sets (25-15, 25-18) in a match determined by the best of three sets.
Coach Kristen Barr spoke highly of her team and their hard work to learn the game.
“I am extremely proud of our team this year,” Barr said. “We worked hard to progress and learn the game throughout the season. We really rose to the challenge during the tournament and played together as a team.”
