Williamsburg’s only Cuban restaurant is closed until the fall.
Habana Hemingway Cafe closed earlier this year because of a water pipe break and was previously scheduled to open on March 23.
“Due to a water pipe break, we are closed, making repairs, and remodeling,” the cafe wrote on its website. “Please visit us at our Grand Re-opening on Saturday, September 23, 2019.”
The cafe opened in January 2018 and features authentic Cuban cuisine as well as salsa and bachata nights.
It is not clear if this is the same water break or why the repairs and remodeling of the restaurant have taken more than four months to complete.
The cafe’s phone number is out of service and multiple attempts to contact the co-owners via social media went unanswered. Currently, the cafe operates its food truck and recently visited Brass Cannon Brewing Company.
