YORK COUNTY — A three-vehicle crash in York County claimed the life of one of the drivers Friday morning, according to the Virginia State Police Department.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:25 a.m. on Route 17SB/George Washington Memorial Highway, north of Fort Eustis Boulevard.

According to police, the driver of a 2010 Ford Taurus, William Thomas Adams, made an attempt to exit the Mcdonald’s parking lot at the intersection of Route 17 and Fort Eustis Boulevard onto southbound 17.

Adams drove into the path of a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and was struck directly on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The force of the impact pushed the Taurus across all southbound lanes, into the median, and into the northbound lanes of Route 17, and into the path of a 2009 Toyota Corolla.

Adams was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, Cameron B. Baker of Gloucester, was taken to Riverside Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver of the Toyota, Brittney L. Khamvongsa, of Newport News, was uninjured.

According to police, the investigation revealed that Adams was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and alcohol was not involved. Police said no charges are being pressed at this time.
