WILLIAMSBURG — James City County Police and Fire Departments responded to a crash Saturday that claimed the life of a James City County resident.
At approximately 8:50 p.m., responders arrived at the scene of an accident involving a 2013 Ford truck and a bicyclist at the intersection of Richmond Road and Barhamsville Road (Anderson’s Corner). The Ford was traveling westbound on Richmond Road when it struck Jule Smith, a 52-year-old James City County resident who was traveling on a bicycle, police said.
Smith succumbed to injuries at the scene.
The westbound lanes of Richmond Road were blocked for two hours while an investigation took place, and the incident remains under investigation, police said.
