NEWPORT NEWS — Avelo Airlines announced Tuesday it will begin nonstop service to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale from the Newport News-Williamsburg Airport (PHF) this fall.
“Avelo will offer the Peninsula’s only nonstop service to Florida. That means getting to the Sunshine State is now easier and more affordable than ever for Peninsula residents,” Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said. “Avelo’s refreshingly convenient, reliable and caring service is a perfect fit with Newport News-Williamsburg Airport’s easy-going hometown airport experience.”
Avelo will begin serving Orlando on Oct. 19 and Fort Lauderdale on Oct. 20 according to a press release. Introductory, one-way fares between PHF and Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) will start at $29.
The airline is also celebrating the announcement by giving away 100 tickets in the Fly PHF Sweepstakes. Winners will receive a pair of roundtrip tickets to fly on any Avelo route. Entries are open until Aug. 23 and sweepstakes details and rules are available at AveloAir.com/FlyPHFSweepstakes.

The new routes will operate on Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, according to Avelo.
