WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary standout men’s gymnast Aidan Cuy will compete at the 2022 U.S. Classic at the Maverik Center on July 28-31 in Salt Lake Valley, Utah.
The national event, which will feature multiple Olympians and World medalists, is the final opportunity for athletes to qualify for the 2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, which will be held in Tampa, Fla., in August.
All juniors and select seniors will be in action in the first of two Sunday sessions on July 31, beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET. Additional seniors will close out a busy weekend of gymnastics at 8:30 p.m. ET. The first men’s session on Sunday will air live on CNBC, and NBC will broadcast a highlight show Saturday, August 6 at 4 p.m. ET. One of 55 gymnasts scheduled to compete in the senior men’s division, Cuy is coming off an outstanding junior season in which he was an individual qualifier for the NCAA Championships in all-around. Additionally, the team captain garnered All-ECAC honors in all-around for the second time during his career and also earned all-league distinction on vault.
As a freshman Cuy garnered USA Gymnastics Collegiate All-America honors on parallel bars, an event in which he has won multiple all-conference accolades.
Cuy has also distinguished himself in the classroom throughout his career with multiple first-team All-America Scholar-Athlete awards by the College Gymnastics Association.
