WILLIAMSBURG — The College of William & Mary (W&M) Global Research Institute is hosting an expert panel discussion today (March 1) at 5:30 p.m. at Tucker Hall to discuss the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The panel discussion is called “Russia, Ukraine, and the Future of Global Order” and it will feature three panelists:
- Steve Hanson, Vice provost for Academic & International Affairs; Lettie Pate Evans Professor of Government.
- Amy Oakes, Associate Professor of Government; Co-Director of the Project on Peace and International Security.
- Lincoln Zaleski ’20, AidData Junior Program Manager
The three panelists combined have written books, scholarly articles, papers, and have taught on the subject of Russia, the impacts of War, Soviet History, and international affairs.
The moderator for the panel discussion is the Director of W&M’s Global Research Institute Mike Tierney.
The panel will discuss Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine, the long-term impact of the invasion, how the war impacts alliances, the possible implications of nuclear deterrence, and Russian disinformation campaigns in addition to other topics.
The event is open to the public and will also be streamed online. The link for the stream will be sent out on March 1.
