HAMPTON ROADS — For individuals or organizations looking to do some community service work, look no further than the Great American Cleanup.
Set for March 25-26, 2022, this annual event brings people together to clean up roadsides, neighborhoods, beaches, waterways, and parks. Since 2019, the event has been responsible for collecting more than 47 tons of trash.
In addition to picking up litter, the Cleanup also focuses on planting trees and flowers in community gardens, restoring nature trails as well as fixing parks and playgrounds.
Volunteers will be connected with an event coordinator who will either match them with a pre-planned event or provide volunteers with assistance hosting their own community cleanup.
