Single Vehicle Crash in York County Ends With One Fatality

YORK COUNTY — A single vehicle crash in York County ends with one fatality.

At approximately 6:12 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, Virginia State Police (VSP) responded to the crash, which occurred on Ballard Street between Cook and Historical Tour roads.

An investigation revealed that a Nissan Sentra, which was traveling south along Ballard Street, ran off the road before striking a tree. At that point, the vehicle was engulfed in fire.

The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was found inside. Due to the severity of the fire, the VSP was unable to identify the victim. VSP notes that the victim has been taken to the medical examiner’s office for a final positive identification. Additionally, the department is working to identify further information regarding the vehicle.
