HISTORIC TRIANGLE — In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, local government entities have announced the following closures:
James City County
- County Offices: Closed Monday, Jan. 17
- Parks: All County parks are open year-round
- Park Stores and Guest Services Offices: Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Little Creek Reservoir Park, James City County Marina and Freedom Park office and stores are closed Jan. 17
- Convenience Centers: Tewning Road and Jolly Pond Road open Jan. 17. Toano Convenience Center remains closed until further notice.
- Garbage Transfer Station: Open Monday, Jan. 1.
- Curbside Recycling: No change to regular schedule.
- Libraries: Closed Monday, Jan. 17.
- Courts: Closed Monday, Jan. 17.
- James City County Recreation Center: Open on Monday, Jan. 17.
- Abram Frink Jr. Community Center: Open on Monday, Jan. 17
City of Williamsburg
- City Offices: Closed Monday, Jan. 17. This includes all offices in the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street.
- Quarterpath Recreation Center: Will be closed Satruday, Jan. 15 to Monday, Jan. 17.
- Waller Mill Park: Open during normal hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Williamsburg Regional Library: Closed Monday, Jan. 17.
- Williamsburg James City County Circuit Court: Closed Monday, Jan. 17.
Garbage will be collected on its regular schedule Monday and Tuesday. For water emergencies after hours, weekends, and holidays, please call (757) 220-2331. More information can be found on the public works website.
Need to pay a City bill when offices are closed? A convenient 24-hour bill payment
To pay a city bill, use the 24-hour drop box located in front of the Municipal Building, 401 Lafayette St. Drop box payments made on Jan. 17 will not be posted until Jan. 18.
York County
- County Government Offices: Closed Monday, Jan. 17.
- Courts: Closed Monday, Jan. 17.
- York-Poquoson Social Services: Closed Monday, Jan. 17.
- Virginia Cooperative Extension– Closed Monday, Jan. 17.
- York County Libraries– Closed Monday, Jan. 17.
The Transfer Station, Recycling Drop-off, and VPPSA Compost Facility located at the Waste Management Center will be open; however, the on-site administrative offices will be closed. Citizens needing assistance are reminded to submit requests via the Customer Service Request Portal.
Garbage and recycling are not affected by the holiday. Residents are reminded to place their trash and recycling containers at the roadside by 7 a.m. on their regular collection day.
