CANCELED: James City County Police to Teach Free Women’s Self-Defense Course

JAMES CITY COUNTY — James City County Parks and Recreation will host a free, five-day women’s self-defense and empowerment course.

The R.A.D. system (Rape Aggression Defense) is a program of practical self-defense tactics and techniques.

The comprehensive workshop will teach women awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance before progressing to the basics of hands-on defense training.

The workshop is for females age 14 and older.

Classes will be taught by certified R.A.D. instructors with the James City County Police Department.

The course will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays Jan. 18, Jan. 20, Jan. 25 and Jan. 27 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 29 from 10:30 a.m.-noon at the JCC Recreation Center, 5301 Longhill Rd.
