Victim Identified in Nov. 12 Fatal Stabbing

WILLIAMSBURG — The identify of the victim of a Nov. 12 fatal stabbing in the City of Williamsburg has been identified.

According to a statement released by City of Williamsburg Police Department (WPD), the victim has been identified as 71-year-old Catherine Patricia Heaston of James City County.

On Friday, Nov. 12 at approximately 6 p.m., WPD responded to reports of a stabbing incident at the Walgreens located at the 1300 block of Richmond Rd.

Officers found Heaston suffering from wounds and she was transported to Riverside Doctors’ Hospital Williamsburg with life-threatening injuries, where she later died.

The suspect, 35-year-old LaTeisha Meekins of Williamsburg, was arrested later that night and charged with second-degree murder and is currently being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond.

According to the WPD statement, the department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau is exploring several possible motives for the attack. While the motive remains unclear, WPD does not believe that there is an ongoing threat to the public.
