Virginia Department of Health Vaccine Clinic to Give COVID-19 Shots to Children

NEWPORT NEWS — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) will offer Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines to any child ages 5 to 11 living in Virginia.

The vaccines will be available starting Nov. 4 at its Community Vaccination Clinic (CVC), 13785 Warwick Boulevard in Newport News.

The CVC is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. No appointments are taken after 7:30 p.m. Vaccinations for children are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please visit Vaccinate Virginia website.

Booster shots are also available at the CVC to anyone who received the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna shots or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine six or more months ago and meet one of the following criteria:

  • They are aged 65-years or older
  • 18 and above with an underlying medical condition
  • Live or work in high risk settings such as workers, first responders, teachers and others.

First and second vaccine dose appointments are also available.
