Those craving Cuban food in the Historic Triangle will have to wait.

Habana Hemingway Cafe, Williamsburg’s only Cuban restaurant, closed its doors at its current location, 264 McLaws Circle, Suite A.

“Due to a water pipe break, we are unable to re-open at this location,” according to the restaurant’s website. “We are looking for a new location. Please check back for future announcements. Thank you.”

The phone number listed for the restaurant was not in service and the Google listing for the business was marked as “permanently closed.”

The last Facebook post on the restaurant’s page was in July 2019. Another Facebook profile affiliated with the restaurant posted last in February.

WYDaily sent multiple messages to the owners but they were not immediately available for comment. The co-owner, Jose Lorenzo’s personal website shows photos of the artist’s music venture.

The cafe has been closed since early 2019 due to a water pipe break.

Habana Hemingway Cafe opened in January 2018 serving the Williamsburg community with authentic Cuban cuisine including the famous Cuban sandwich. The restaurant also offered dance classes, paint nights and cigars.

It’s unclear if the cafe’s food truck is still operating. The last post on the restaurant’s Instagram was from February 6.
