An employee at the James City County Recreation Center has tested positive for the virus.
The person was last in the building on June 15 and 16.
“As such, patrons in the building on those days may have been exposed to this virus,” according to the county’s announcement. “Due to factors beyond our control, the results of the test took longer than normal.”
“We apologize for the delayed notice.”
The employee was tested June 16 and officials did not get the results until June 26, said Carla Brittle, James City County Rec Center administrator.
The employee worked June 15. The following day, the employee was sent home after telling supervisors of not feeling well.
Employees were notified of the positive case Friday.
As of Monday, James City County has 258 cases, 58 hospitalizations and 15 deaths, according to the Virginia Department of Health’s website. York County has 115 cases, 10 hospitalizations and 3 deaths while Williamsburg has 56 cases, 12 hospitalizations and 6 deaths.
