NORFOLK — Police have identified the man who was shot to death Wednesday night in the Young Terrace neighborhood as Robert T. Lucas III.
Authorities said Lucas lived in the 7700 block of Restmere Road. He was 27 years old.
Police were called to the 200 block of Nicholson Street just after 9:20 p.m. for a report of a gunshot disturbance. When officers arrived they found Lucas outside a home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
This shooting marks the 10th homicide this year for Norfolk. Police said suspects have been arrested or charged in eight of those homicides.
Since the shooting, officers have stepped-up patrols around Nicholson Street. Area residents should expect to see officers walking, riding bicycles and driving in police cars, according to authorities.
